According to the monthly notice of unqualified foods and cosmetics by GAC, 278 batches of imported foods and 3 bactches of cosmetics were found unqualified and refused for entry in January 2022.
Unqualified foods came from 36 countries or regions. Products from Taiwan, China, with 38 batches, were the most, followed by Japan and U.S., with 27 batches and 25 batches respectively.
The foods refused for entry did not comply with China’s laws and regulations. The main reasons of rejection were unqualified labels, inconsistent cargo certificates, detection of animal diseases, food additives use problems, microbial contamination, and failure to receive inspection and quarantine access, etc. In addition, some products were detected product mildew, exceed the shelf life, fail sensory inspection, contain impurities, etc.
Statistics also show that Shanghai Port detected the largest number of unqualified foods, with 47 batches.
In addition, 3 batches of cosmetics were not allowed to enter the country. 2 batches are unqualified labels, and 1 batch is detected arsenic exceeding the standard.
The above-mentioned unqualified foods and cosmetics had been returned or destroyed at ports, according to GACC.
